Ano nga ba ang ibig sabihin ng sakripisyo?
GIVING UP
Sacrifice is the act of giving up short-term pleasure for long-term gains. Halimbawa, handa nating ipagpaliban ang pagbili ng mga mamahaling gadgets dahil mas mahalaga sa atin ang makapag-invest at makapag-ipon.
We give up certain things dahil naniniwala tayong mas mahalaga ang kapalit nito. Yes, most of the time, masakit at mahirap mag-give up ng isang bagay, lalo na kung mahalaga ito sa atin.
Pero kung hindi natin ito bibitawan, hindi natin makakamit ang mga mas mahahalagang bagay.
DENYING
Sacrifice is also denying ourselves comfort and pleasure, while pursuing an assignment or a goal’s success.
Halimbawa, magsasakripisyo muna tayong mag-renta ng maliit na apartment habang pinag-iipunan pa ang pagpapagawa ng malaking bahay. Magsasakripisyo muna tayong hindi makapasyal sa Enchanted Kingdom dahil nagpaplano tayong makapasyal sa Hong Kong, Disneyland.
We forget convenience, comfort, and even our own pleasure, just to achieve bigger goals.
In a nutshell, sacrifice is stretching yourself to achieve a given task. It’s doing the extraordinary. Putting in extra effort, extra time.
We must understand that doing our best while pursuing a particular goal is diligence, but going beyond our best is sacrifice.
If we want to succeed, reach our goals, and fulfill our dreams, we should be willing to sacrifice.
